After battling for his life on a ventilator for three days, noted orthopedic surgeon Dr Kaikhushroo (Keku) Kavarana (76) passed away on June 25, 2017. He suffered severe asphyxia as a result of a fire in the air conditioning duct of their Malabar Hill apartment on June 22. The doctor and his interior decorator wife Feroza (68) were pulled out of the smoke filled 2,000 sq ft flat within half an hour of the incident, reported the MumbaiMirror of June 23. Their pet dog perished in the blaze.
