“Seeking security II”

After  reading "Seeking security II,” (Parsiana, June 21, 2017) I wish to inform you of our Kota Parsi aramgah that has the graves of my dear parents Nargish and Rustomji Anklesaria. We are the only Parsi family residing in Kota since nearly 1930 when my father migrated as Kota state distillery contractor. He set up the first ice factory and ice slabs from there used to cool the coaches of the prestigious Frontier Mail as there was no conception of air conditioners in those days.        Above: Kota Parsi aramgah; alongside Dr C. Anklesaria (right) with caretakers   My older brother and I are maintaining the aramgah land that was given by the Kota Maharaja Umed Singhji II for use as a Parsi kabrastan around 1947 or so. Although there is encroachment by the water supply department that has constructed a water distribution tank, since this is a good cause we are not objecting. The property is in the proximity of a Shiv temple and is thus free from dirt and further encroachment. A God fearing Christian family occupies a small area and looks after the property, having cultivated a beautiful garden with flowers and fruits.                                         Dr C.
