A chair for Tata

In recognition of Ratan Tata’s (pictured)leadership on its board of trustees, The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace has established the Tata Chair for strategic affairs, according to a report in The Hindu dated April 19, 2017 posted on the website www.tata.com. The Chair’s work will focus on the "pressing international security challenges of the emerging world order,” said the report. Senior Fellow Ashley Tellis who previously served as a senior adviser in the US State Department in Washington and at the US Embassy in New Delhi is the inaugural Chair. On April 17, The Economic Times (ET) had reported that Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) have collaborated to set up a state-of-the-art facility in Pittsburg which "would lay the groundwork for the fourth industrial revolution by conducting cutting edge research.” The collaboration takes the shape of an unprecedented $ 35 million grant from TCS. This is the largest ever industry donation to the CMU, for a building, which when completed by next year, would become the hub of CMU and TCS collaborations on promoting new technologies, said the report.          The Endowment building; industrialist and  philanthropist Andrew Carnegie (inset)  Photos: Wikipedia  ...
