The Federal President of the Republic of Austria awarded the Medal of Merit in Gold along with a citation to Rustom Jal Vakil for his services over the last 25 years as honorary chancellor of the Consulate General of Austria. The territorial post includes Maharashtra and other states of western India, notes an email received from consular officer Tamara Valladares. The function was held on December 12, 2016 at Gallops at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse in Bombay.
