During the course of 2017, the Jiyo Parsi (JP) program started a Jiyo Mobed (JM) project as part of their holistic approach toward issues relating to the community. JM primarily conducted a few workshops aimed at developing leadership and counseling skills among priests. Two such workshops conducted last year met with enthusiastic support from members of the clergy as also the laity.

However, as JP is required to focus on increasing the Parsi population through advocacy and medical intervention, to which they have recently added child care and care for the elders, it was not feasible to continue organizing further JM workshops.
After discussion with JP, it has been decided that the Athornan Mandal — WZO Trust Funds Mobed Welfare Scheme (that has since its inception in 1996 been supporting 68 young, full-time mobeds) will continue the activity under the name of Mobed Empowerment Workshop, the dates for which will be announced shortly.
