This is the first part of an article on Barrister Dorabji Nasarvanji Bahadurji (1868-1956), a Parsi member of the Bombay High Court (BHC) whose life and work spanned much of the last half-century of British rule. Bahadurji was held in high regard by his professional peers, and finds mention in more than one judicial memoir. On two occasions he was acting advocate-general (the first Indian in the post), and reportedly rejected an offer of an acting judgeship.
