First navjote in Auckland

Seven-year-old Viraaf Mehta was initiated into the Zarathushtrian fold on February 11, 2007 by Ervads Freddy Gonda, Khushroo Master, Aspi Bilia and Kayan Gonda at the Dar-be-Meher founded by Parsiana Lodge owners Dolly and Aspi Shahlori in Auckland, New Zealand. His parents, Cyrus and Rati Mehta, register their delight at having been able to hold their son’s navjote in authentic Parsi style in their country of adoption in an e-mail to Parsiana: "It was like home away from home.”  A bonus for the Mehta family was that the event took place on the birthday of their daughter Aafreen. Viraaf, as notes the report, is currently delighted with his new kusti and religiously unties and reties it after every trip to the loo. ...
