“Others don’t need to learn”

In the editorial "Others don’t need to learn” (Parsiana, December 21, 2016) you have pointed out the pettiness in the criticism of Parsiana by two Facebook visitors who state "none of us subscribes to it (the magazine) anyway.” I am among the thousands who do read and feel grateful to a magazine that is balanced and publishes all types of views in a mature manner. The two commentators should read Sunnu Golwalla’s letter "Portraying a Parsi” (Readers’ Forum, Parsiana, January 7, 2017) in  which the lady, based in Karachi, refers to the role played by letters published in the magazine from readers in Europe and the West, belying the ill-inspired comments by the two who have questioned the magazine’s readership. Parsiana and its readers enthusiastically participate in contemporary controversies as this is the only English medium magazine in the forefront covering Zoroastrian affairs. A case in point is the letter "A navjote in Delhi” (Readers’ Forum, Parsiana, January 7, 2017), written and signed by five readers on the vital issue of the need for a progressive approach toward changes in religious practices which would ultimately take the community down the path to doom if left unchanged.                                   RASHID G.
