"Of noses, twitches..."

I always enjoy reading articles by Berjis Desai. His Bawa Musings column in the June 7, 2017 issue ("Of noses, twitches, gaits and traits") regarding quirks and traits of Parsis is hilarious. It prompts me to reminisce of two other individuals. One was our neighbor who always had this irritating habit of rubbing his mouth vigorously with his palm and saying, "Mara saheb, su boloch (My dear sir, what are you saying)!" at least five times a day. Another was a rich old uncle in Calcutta, who in spite of ill health, would go down every day from his Park Street residence to buy one egg. When asked why he did not buy six at a time his reply was, "If I die tomorrow, what will happen to my remaining five eggs?" NERGISH DORDI nergishdordi@hotmail.com...
