Increase in allocation for Jiyo Parsi program announced by union minister at book launch analysing demographic decline of the community



Today at the release of a four-volume set of The Parsis of India: Continuing at the crossroads at the Max Mueller Bhavan (MMB), the union minister of minority affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi announced that the government's allocation for the Jiyo Parsi program has been increased by 50%.The minister also announced that the government would be willing to assist financially for community housing projects.

The volumes are co-edited by Dr Armaity Desai and Shalini Bharat of Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) and analyse the demographic decline of the Parsi community, with a pan-India focus.

Key findings were presented,followed by a panel discussion between Dr Shernaz Cama of Parzor and Prof Leela Visaria, demographer. Desai could not be present due to ill health.
