Winning the Eagle Scout award at the age of 16 years, Parinaz Hathiram of North Carolina is "probably one of the first if not the first Zarathushti girl to win this award… the highest award bestowed upon Scouts in the United States,” noted an email from Arzan Wadia, president of the Federation of Zoroastrian Associations of North America. Avamehr Vaghaiwalla (now 18), daughter-Marina Batliwalla & Dr. Behram Vaghaiwalla- received Eagle Scout Award-May 30, 2021, part of first graduating female Eagle Scouts, Troop 223G Eagle Court of Honor, Pacific Palisades, California.
Avamehr's scouting career-Senior Patrol Leader-New Scouts, earned Zoroastrian Good Life Religious Emblem, Silver Palm Award (36 merit badges- required 21), & EPA 50th Anniversary Award.
Eagle Project (conducted via Zoom due to COVID) partnering with Salaam Baalak School & Trust-Mumbai, resulted in production of 2 educational videos for school children:”Hygiene during the time of COVID" & "The Dangers of Smoking". For these videos, she led a group of Scouts in researching, writing, narrating, designing graphics and editing. She raised funds for school backpacks with hand-made cards of encouragement.
Achievements-Climbed 10,000 ft cliffs of Clouds Rest in Yosemite National Park & 12-day backpacking expedition at Philmont Scout Ranch,NM. Attends UCLA-2023.
