Poonawalla’s health

"I am now recovering well,” billionaire-philanthropist Dr Cyrus Poonawalla wrote to Parsiana on November 21, 2023. Parsiana had inquired about his health on hearing reports of him being taken ill. Newspapers had reported that the 82-year-old chairman and managing director of the Serum Institute of India Limited (SII) had suffered a mild cardiac arrest and was admitted to the Ruby Hall Clinic on November 17 in his home city of Poona. Chief cardiologist, chairman of cardiovascular services and managing trustee at Ruby Hall Clinic, Dr Purvez Grant told The Indian Express of November 18, "We have done an angioplasty and he is stable. He will be discharged in a couple of days.” According to Dr C. N. Makhale, interventional cardiologist and cath lab in-charge, Poonawalla was in the intensive care unit and was responding well to treatment.    Dr Cyrus Poonawalla SII, founded by Poonawalla in 1966, played a major role in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic with large scale production of Covishield vaccine.  Farrokh Jijina ...
