At the Deadlifts Championship organized on April 3, 2022, Hanoze Malesra won a gold medal in the under 66 kg category with a deadlift of 230 kg. His wife Friya who won a gold in the women’s under 52 kg category, lifted 130 kg. At this competition organized by the Amateur Powerlifting Association Suburban Mumbai, affiliated to the Maharashtra State Powerlifting Association, Hanoze was declared the best lifter amongst all the weight categories in the men seniors for lifting 3.65 times his body weight, according to a press release forwarded to Parsiana by jurist Burjor Antia, senior partner of Mulla and Mulla and Craigie Blunt and Caroe.
Hanoze is currently a professional fitness trainer and nutritionist. After working as a human relations professional for seven years with companies like Tata Capital, Tata Trust and Yes Bank, he decided to make a career switch to pursue his passion for personal fitness. Mentored by the late Kaizzad Capadia and having completed several courses from the K11 School of Fitness Sciences, he started as a floor trainer and soon paved his way to becoming the manager of Fitness First, one of the popular fitness groups. Thereafter he chose to operate independently and now counsels clients on nutrition, diet and healthy lifestyle, and trains them according to their needs and priorities. He additionally serves as a consultant for gym setups and is passionate about powerlifting.
Friya is a French teacher with an IB (international baccalaureate) school and is pursuing powerlifting as a hobby, training under Hanoze. The couple is convinced that with right education and the right approach to one’s body, all can make appropriate choices for an improved lifestyle and a better future.
