IZA elections
Nominations have been invited for membership of the General Committee (GC) of the Iranian Zoroastrian Anjuman (IZA) from only male Iranian Zoroastrians who are over 21 years of age, residents of Bombay for at least two years, and who are voting members of the IZA. A notice in the Jam-e-Jamshed of July 14, 2019 stated that those putting themselves up for elections can offer to represent the Iranian village or city under which they have registered. Elections are slated for September 29, 2019. An earlier notice of June 16 had invited Irani Zoroastrians over 18 years of age, residing in India who wished to vote, to register their names with IZA.

Their voter list earlier had around 374 voters listed with addresses and 846 without. The total list of 1,220 includes many deceased members (see "Coping with change,” Parsiana, March 7, 2016).
The venue and other details for the September 29 elections will be made public after the August 7 Working Committee meeting. In addition to the elected 28 GC members, (see "The IZA elections,” Events and Personalities, Parsiana, July 21, 2009), 12 more can be co-opted. The GC also comprises some patron members. Women can vote but cannot stand for office. They may, however, be co-opted on the GC. The president and four vice presidents are elected from the WC. The IZA also has seven trustees whose terms are of seven years’ duration.
The IZA’s object clause indicates that the founders were interested in improving the social, moral, physical and educational welfare of the Iranian Zoroastrians and to give their poor all sorts of help to improve their status (see "The anjuman and its properties,” Parsiana, March 21, 2006).
