This "is a recognition of my life, my hard work, my achievements and not merely my looks,” founder trustee of Zoroastrian Trust Funds of India (ZTFI) Yasmin Mistry told Parsiana on October 7, 2022. She was featured in the India Today (IT) weekly issue of September 28 in the list of top 10 emerging leaders selected by global brand research and consulting firm Heylin Spark. Mistry is managing director of family owned companies Y. M. Securities, Mistry Logistics and Durand Forms (India). "Personally one feels elated that one has been recognized… It is a feeling that is impossible to convey through words… Professionally I now have newer goals, bigger dreams and higher aspirations… The sense of achievement and pleasure is immense,” she shared.
As to how she expects to use the award to assist others, she replied, "Once you receive an award, the world around you sits up and takes notice… As an awardee you can focus attention on issues that you care about… It is a huge opportunity to create awareness and be a source of inspiration for the next generation,” she stated. "This award will help me to create many leaders within our community with my outreach program that I am planning through ZTFI and my companies,” she said.
Others in the list of achievers include Abhishek Gami, founder of United Wolfram, a large tungsten plant, start-up enthusiast and environmentalist Yasasvi Malik and managing director of jewelry online company Jay Thukral. As noted IT on September 28, these leaders "are the ones who gave us… new innovative ideas… Their diligence and commitment to their jobs demonstrate their prowess in their specialized sectors.”
Initially a candidate for the May 2022 Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) elections, Mistry had withdrawn her nomination citing opposition from her mother, social worker and erstwhile BPP trustee Arnavaz Mistry. The fitness enthusiast was earlier this year crowned Mrs World International 2022 (see "Beautiful honor,” Events and Personalities, Parsiana, June 21-July 6, 2022). She is married to Masood Shahnazian.
