A superiority complex

Navsari Parsis behaved, felt and believed that they were superior to all other non-urban Parsis. They however freely conceded that Bombay Parsis were in a different league. Of course, after the ’70s, all such distinctions were obliterated. Behramji’s only daughter, Rutty, fair and pretty, was in a desperate hurry to get married to anyone who was based in New Delhi. Her obsession with the national capital was the sole criterion for selecting her life partner. All the kaajwalis (matchmakers) of Navsari failed to meet her requirement; finally, a distant cousin recommended a boy in Delhi, originally from Bulsar, as Valsad......
