Parsi Gujarati

Some Parsis claim that we have "murdered” the Gujarati language, though no Gujarati has expressed that to me. I disagree vehemently. Hindi, as spoken from Bihar in the east to Haryana and mid-Punjab, has evolved into 51 dialects. Have the north Indians "murdered” it? No. They have modified it, just as the Kutchis have modified Sindhi.  Similarly, Gujarati has been modified by Parsis from Khambhat to Vapi and beyond. Parsi Gujarati is a dialect of the Gujarati language of which we are proud.                                                     B. T.
