Bone marrow transplant

The World Zoroastrian Organisation Trust Funds (WZOTF) is issuing this second update regarding the appeal for funds for 28-year-old Ervad Shahzad Hozdar who was diagnosed with High Grade Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS). The amounts collected and disbursed by WZOTF as on December 11, 2023 are Rs 1,19,70,025 from 342 donors both in India and overseas. The second round of chemotherapy has been completed at The B. D. Petit Parsee General Hospital (PGH). However, as the blood counts were low, Hozdar had to remain in the Hospital for observation for nearly a month. Physical examination on November 25 showed all reports to be normal. He was discharged from PGH on November 30, but had to be readmitted the same evening as he began to run a high fever.   Analysis of a matched stem cell donor has been done in Germany and the reports were normal. The procedure has been scheduled for a later date. A balance of Rs 1,03,98,198 remains. If some amount remains after the treatment is completed, WZOTF will credit this to its "surplus medical funds” account to use for future medical appeals. WZOTF extends sincere gratitude to all who have donated towards this humanitarian cause.  DINSHAW F. TAMBOLY Chairman, WZOTF admin@wzotrust.com ...
