Berjis Desai not to contest March BPP elections

Noted solicitor and community activist Berjis Desai, who was expected to contest the March 14 Bombay Parsi Punchayet trusteeship elections has, after careful consideration, decided not to offer his candidacy for now. He was expected to stand along with social worker Anahita Desai for the trusteeship seats vacated by Zarir Bhathena who expired in June last year and chairman Yazdi Desai who resigned in December following a stroke.
Hoshi Jal, a former assistant collector, customs who served on the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence and a resident of Cusrow Baug, is expected to offer his candidacy. Jal is the honorary secretary of the colony's Sports and Welfare League and is active in serving residents during the present pandemic.
