Federation elections




In a closely contested election Pervez Irani of the Iranian Zoroastrian Anjuman defeated sitting West Zone A vice president of The Federation of Parsi Zoroastrian Anjumans of India (FPZAI) Mancher Mubarakai of Dahanu by three to two votes on July 20 in Ahmedabad. Prior to the vote, Bombay Parsi Punchayet Chairman and FPZAI president said the BPP would refrain from the vote as the trustees had not decided on who to support from the Zone but his co-trustees overruled him with six of them deciding the BPP vote should go to Irani
In West Zone B election for vice president Sam Chothia of Valsad won reelection defeating Ahmedabad Parsi Panchayat president Brig Jahangir Anklesaria by 16 to nine votes. For the East and South Zones there was only one nomination each so no elections were held.
